Gnoes~
Ok, so I have this wig.  It needs a ponytail.  My wig is 24B with 613, and that's the color I want it.  My ponytail string-fall which I was going to butcher is 613 with 24B (right colors, wrong proportions).  And silky from Amphigory does not come in 24B.

So, does anyone know a good resource for cheap extension hair besides Amphigory?  Otherwise I'm just going to buy another string-fall in 24B.  XD

Costume Con~!
Costume Con was filled with so much wow and awesome and yay and happy~ *__* It was so much more than I had expected. I really want to go again (too bad traveling scares me)! XD

There was so much to look at, so many inspiring costumers, and the panels were amazing. I really wish I had gone to more panels! I wasn't expecting much, because I don't usually enjoy panels, but these were very interesting. I was really impressed with the general attitude that I saw at the con. People seemed so willing to share their knowledge because they just loved costuming that much! It was a wonderful change from the secretive and competitive attitudes that are so common in the cosplay community (not pointing at anyone, just saying). I'm now tempted to check out Costume College, too, since I felt I missed out on some great panels here~ /hmm

The events were amazing, of course! I sometimes get stir-crazy when I have to sit and watch so long (hence my not liking movies so much), but I really enjoyed the two masquerades and the fashion show. Ok, I'll admit I did get a bit antsy during the Sci-Fi masquerade, but that was partially the tech crew's fault... XD Much to my surprise, the performances for the historical masquerade were even more impressive than those for the Sci-Fi masquerade.

Though there were so many fabulous entries in both masquerades, I particularly enjoyed:
Warcraft 1 - cuz OMG, Warcraft 1!!
Grandma Zelda - Awesome use of an alternate Brawl coloration of Zelda! :o
Wizard of Oz by Gomu Gomu - creepy, but very cool, and they looked amazing
[info]furtech's group - both the suits and the characterization were top notch, as to be expected!
Arms Lady and Flagbearer - Adorable!!
Space Girls - Especially the Vulcan XD  Brilliant skit idea~
Historical portrait group - if you've seen it, you know. I don't know how else to describe it.
And of course, the 4 entries from various combinations of the members of the Dancing with Celebrities from the Stars group.

I also got to meet some wonderful people at Costume con. I finally met Kay Dee and her friend who were such sweet and lovely ladies! I felt like such a fangirl~ XD I'm particularly loving the Star Wars and Harry Potter stuffs. I also re-met an old con friend from past days of Fanime (I want to say 2001?). We had hung out and taken pictures as Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris. What a chance meeting! He doesn't even go to anime cons any more. As it turns out, he and his wife were the ones doing the neat Warcraft, Lego Star Wars, and Midna/Wolf Link.

I think I was going to say more, but it's way past my bedtime. >.>

P.S. You're NEVER too old to be a costumer!

o wait wrong king!
My brain (yes, I wrote brian and then deleted it) is totally fried. I keep trying to refer to Caris from Shining Wind and just end up calling him Arthur instead. :[

So clearly, my brain only has the capacity for this:

Yeah, I know, old picture.  I just really love it (man I wish I really had that much hair...).  Thanks for the CIV pics Jenn! XD I missed out on a lot of cool stuff. D: And man, those Sat. evening pix are insane, but we already knew that.

J-con was a blast, but I felt so rushed, and so tired the week afterward.  There were just too many people to catch up with (and not really the ideal environment to do so).  This definitely calls for slower paced trips more often! >;3

Guh, I was going to write more, but it's three hours past my bedtime.  Wah.

Today for our birthday, the family went to Todai, because we'd always been curious, but I knew it wasn't worth my money.  And yeah, wouldn't have been worth my money.  There was barely anything I could eat.  The best thing there was probably the soft-serve ice cream. XD  At least my curiosity was quenched.

Thanks to all of those who wished me a happy birthday~  I can't wait to see you guys in LA! XD !!!

Oh, and HAPPYBIRTHDAYWAYNESHEAKIE!!! XD  Wheeee

Bwah ha ha~!!
My daddy got himself an ultrasonic bath for Christmas.  That thing is GLORIOUS.  It's so exciting.  I grabbed every comb in the house and washed it.  I stuck my nail clippers in there, too, and they came out shinier than they've ever been.  If I wore glasses, I'd sure be cleaning those, too.  Oh wait!  Sunglasses!  *runs off snickling*

And in other news, my health insurance went up, as did my copays.  Arg, I need a job with benefits.

I almost feel guilty~  I've had such a good week.

While so many friends had to spend the weekend watching their neighborhoods burn, Kie and I went on epic adventures (warning: links to many many images, courtesy of teh Lionboogy).  I hope all of you in socal are staying safe and relatively healthy given the circumstances.  For something on a little happier note:

Anywho~

I also got a job, training starting tomorrow, and I'm going to have to be waking up at ungodly hours.  XD  It's a temp job in Richmond, which means two things.  One, I'm going to be staying up in Norcal for a while longer.  Two, I might be able to move to Socal after next summer.  We'll just have to see!  Hopefully, though, I can make a couple visits down in the meantime.  Sorry Norcal, but I still maintain that you have too much grass!

Natural beauty, huh?
So last night it rained, but today it's sunny with big puffy clouds.  When I looked out the front window, there were gazillions of little moth-like creatures fluttering about like little faeries.  It was actually quite pretty.  It made me think again of this video:

~1:30  Besides the leaves, you realize what all that pretty junk is.  No, not faeries.  POLLEN AND BUGS!

POLLEN AND BUGS !!

Yuck. I think I feel itchy already.  XD

Also, I'd like to mention that Super Paper Mario's version of the infinite lives koopa trooper trick is AWESOME and HILARIOUS.  Woo.

And now for a photo spam to supplement my short SDCC report.

Find the odd one out! ;D

Some of these are repeats from Kie's post here, but I have others as well, I swear! XD

Oh yeah! Comic Con report.
Although I've otherwise recovered, my big toes are still numb!  I bet it's those blasted gold shoes!  Poor Lionel, having to deal with those little toemunchers all evening! D:  But I'll get back to that.

I've always loved Comic Con!  So many fandoms all in one place, so much to do and see, and a nice area to vacation at that!  I came back with lots of loot (mostly plushies), the best of which were these awesome figures Kiyo got for us:

They even had SHTINKY.  And the little pink sock!  Ohmigawds.

I didn't go to any panels, although I tried to go to the Avatar panel, and didn't get in.  Just as well since it conflicted with the masquerade meeting.  I got to see the trailer online, so I'm happy. XD

Masquerade was spectacular this year!  There were so many good entries, it was truly enjoyable to watch.  Usually I get kinda stir-crazy sitting in one place for too long, but I had a good time even watching it at the playback Sunday.  I participated as part of the Jem Jam, and it was so much fun!  I'm really happy to have been part of the experience.  It was truly outrageous, absolutely spectac!  Totally worth getting "Misfits in Hawaii" stuck in my head for a week. ;D  Not to mention, watching people's reaction to seeing Lionel as Aja was precious.  Best worst idea evar~

I'm amazed that amongst all us girls with our pumps, Lionel wore these gold flats, and they were the most uncomfortable shoes!  I tried them on (because they're my size) and goodness, they squished the feet like nothing else.  Lionel didn't want to keep them, so he passed them on to me.  I blame them for my numb toes!

Congrats to those who won awards, and even to those who didn't, you were all great!  My brain is too fried to list you all out in some sort of fair order, so I'll leave it at that, cuz you know who you are~

Last but not least, my favorite part of the con is always the meeting of friends, new and old.  If I were a bit less shy, this probably would have been more successful, but I did get to catch up with many people I haven't seen in a long while.

OMG Why is our area so retarded.  Why can't I find a decent art store?? D:

So I decided to color a gray wig with water-reducible acrylic paint.  Because it was the ONLY purple liquid thing at Aaron Brothers Art Framing Mart.  We'll see how it turns out.

Kie needs to teach me teh Haruhi dansu~ D:

Hey SDCC Avatar peoples~

Are we gathering at the panel?  It's 10:30 Sat. morning! XD  It might conflict with the masquerade meeting, but I don't think the whole group needs to go.

I better wake up real early that day. X3

First of all, now that I've graduated, I hope no one still sends me mail at my Caltech address (snail or email)!  My current email is on my info page, and if you need my home address, you can email me about it. XD

Sometimes candid shots are the best. ;3  Thank you Dean for the photoshoots~  For that matter, thanks to all the photographers, especially Kiyoshi who got some REALLY RETARDED ONES!! <3

AX was awesome this year!  I had so much fun, and saw so many people (and still missed a lot of you, too! D: !!).  It was really refreshing after a couple years of being too busy to fully enjoy the con.  The best part of course was that I actually had time to hang out with all you friends! *hugs to everyone*

This year I tried something new, I entered the karaoke contest with Kie.  Not that I'm all that fond of my singing, but we'd been wanted to perform some W songs and besides the Pop-Shock (which sucked last we tried it), there really only was the karaoke contest.  Amazingly enough, I had a TON of fun.  It was a really casual event, and everyone there was so nice.  The winning group was awesome, and seriously beat out a lot of performances in the masquerade.  They had costumes, they danced, they sang in 4-part harmony, and there was even a little bit of humor.  It was really enjoyable to watch.  I'm also really tickled that one group sang Evil Queen from Rhapsody.  I'm so glad I went to the event, but it's too bad it's getting so small and unpopular.

Para Para at the festival was great, too!  Thank you Steph for inviting us to join you.  I'd never really been that into para para, but the friends make it totally worth it.

Cosplay was awesome and fun as usual.  I enjoyed the masquerade and loved seeing everyone backstage (and of course was too shy to talk to those I didn't already know. D: !!)  But yeah~

And the single biggest disappointment of the con:  I didn't get to eat at Roscoe's!!! D:  I miss socal food~ *cries*

I've been so extremely busy, it's insane! I survived the last two weeks, but not as well as I had hoped. :\

The trial was actually VERY interesting. In a way, I'm glad I went, and now I'm really excited to get called for jury duty again! X3 But seriously, it came at the absolute WORST time, ruined A LOT of my plans, and because of circumstances, I couldn't postpone it or get out of it. /pif Amazingly enough, I really enjoyed hanging out with the jury near the end of our drama-rific term, and though I was annoyed that the trial lasted two extra days, at least it wasn't extra long AND extra boring.

Of course, I was still expected to finish all my schoolwork. Which didn't really happen, buy hey, as long as I graduate, I really couldn't care less! D:

CELEBRATION IV )

And then, there was moving~!! But I won't even get started on that now. *whew*
